In this talk, we discuss two topics related to the Cross-Nested Logit (CNL) model, which is capable of capturing complex substitution patterns among alternatives. In the first topic, we model air passengers’ advance seat selection behavior using the CNL model to capture row-wise and column-wise substitution effects. In the second topic, we investigate the assortment optimization problem under the CNL model. We propose an exact solution approach that integrates binary search with branch-and-bound, as well as a polynomial-time heuristic based on binary search and a greedy algorithm. We conduct numerical experiments to demonstrate the superiority of our solution approaches.

讲座专家简介:

姜海现任清华大学工业工程系长聘副教授，博士生导师，运筹与统计研究所所长，国家优青，中国运筹学会常务理事，中国运筹学会-行为运筹与管理分会副理事长。主要研究用户行为模型与系统优化方法，及其在交通与物流系统、互联网电商中的应用。本科毕业于清华大学，硕博士毕业于麻省理工学院（MIT）。论文发表于Operations Research, Transportation Science等权威期刊。他与美团、滴滴、高德、去哪儿网、华为、福特汽车等企业建立了长期合作关系，为这些企业的运营决策提供定量的支持。
