学术报告：Harmonic Balance Approaches for Nonlinear Systems and its Applications in Mechanical and Structural Engineering

    In mechanical and structural engineering, there are many dynamic problems governed by nonlinear equations. The quest for accurate solutions to nonlinear dynamic problems has led to the development of many analytical or semi-analytical approaches. The concentration on analytical approximate and exact solutions of nonlinear dynamic problems has come about because they can be used to trace the dynamic evolution of systems in response to changes in parameters that affect nonlinearity. In this presentation, ingenious harmonic balance approaches will be briefly introduced to explain how to obtain analytical and exact solutions for some kinds of nonlinear problems. Various practical examples are also illustrated to demonstrate the robust and effectiveness of the harmonic balance approaches.
