讲座提要:
When the turbulent Reynolds number is large, the flow structure is highly intermittent, i.e. the tiny regions of a high dissipation rate (i.e. of intense velocity gradients) interchange randomly with quiet almost laminar patches of low dissipation rate. This phenomenon is called intermittency - the existence of strong vortical structures, persisting in time on smallest length scales in the flow is one of the primary reasons of intermittency. The effects of intermittency may play an important role in many engineering fields and in the nature. In combustion for example, such effects can be responsible for spontaneous extinction or ignition sites, they may also impact the atomization process, the dispersion and vaporization of droplets. However, when the Reynolds number is large, the intense velocity gradients are under-resolved, and thereby the effects of intermittency are discarded. In this talk we will discuss on how to account for sub-filtered effects of intermittency in the stochastic way. This approach is referred to as LES-SSAM (Stochastic Subgrid Acceleration Model).
主讲⼈简介:
Professor Mikhael Gorokhovski is a distinguished expert in fluid mechanics and energy. He obtained his PhD in Physics and Mathematics from Kazakh State University in 1981 and is currently an Emeritus Professor at Ecole Centrale de Lyon, France. Over his career, he has held full professorships at the University of Rouen and Ecole Centrale de Lyon. His research focuses on turbulence, fragmentation theory, spray combustion, and energy systems, with a particular interest in statistical models of turbulence and pollutant formation in turbulent flows. Professor Gorokhovski has held visiting positions at institutions like Stanford University and Beihang University. He is actively involved in research grants and serves on the editorial boards of journals such as the Atomization and Spray Journal. His recent work emphasizes stochastic models in fluid dynamics and combustion physics. He has also been an educator, teaching fluid mechanics and combustion physics at various institutions. His contributions have led to invitations to speak at numerous international conferences and workshops.
